For anyone wanting to do some outdoor activity there is some superb countryside to walk, the South Downs Way runs to the south of Lewes.



Here are some specific Sport & Leisure facilties Lewes has to offer:

Lewes Leisure Centre / Wave Leisure Centre
Modern, spacious sports centre with everything under one roof. 25m swimming pool with flume, gym, sports halls, sauna, sunbed, Open seven days a week.

Pells Pool
The oldest outdoor swimming pool in the country is open from May –September. This 40m pool is fed by a natural spring, surrounded by lawn and sun terraces. There is also a childrens' pool and cafe. The pool is set in a nature reserve by the river, with attractive walks and a lake, recently restored, which is home to a large variety of wildfowl.

Lewes Football Club
The Dripping Pan is home to 2008 Blue Square South Champions, Lewes FC.

Convent Fields
is adjacent to the Priory Remains. This extensive area contains a children's play area, a putting green, bowling greens, tennis courts, soccer, rugby and cricket pitches. It is a delightful area to stroll around, with many flowerbeds and the small Priory Herb Garden - all open to the public.

Lewes Golf Club
Visiting Lewes Golf Club for the first time takes you on a magical mystery tour - up a single lane with passing places - past picturesque houses reminiscent of a trip to Cornwall - and then up and up to the top of the chalk cliffs - to arrive to spectacular views over the South Downs and the historic town of Lewes with its Norman castle standing proud.

Southdown Sports Club
Well-known locally as a friendly, family-oriented club that welcomes new members of all ages and abilities. We offer a range of sporting activities for beginners through to accomplished sports people. There is an excellent programme of coaching, competition, social games, events and social activities throughout the year.

Lewes Bowls Club
Lewes Bowls Club is where bowls is played in delightful surroundings in an atmosphere of friendly fun since 1922. Now with a recently re-laid green and a modern clubhouse it offers excellent facilities that cater for all abilities from beginners to County players. The Club is Mixed (men and ladies) and offers the full range of bowling activities.

Lewes Little Theatre
Lewes Theatre Club was founded by the Rev. Kenneth Rawlings in 1939 to give the people of Lewes and the surrounding villages the opportunity to see and be involved in theatre. He and his friends set high standards which the Club has tried to live up to ever since. Members have worked hard over the years to enlarge and improve the theatre but they always give priority to the quality of their stage productions.
